Clinical Pathology Laboratory, CPL, is a full service testing laboratory which has served the local community for over 20 years.

CPL is part of Sonic Healthcare, Ltd, which is the largest international laboratory in the world. Sonic Healthcare operates a federation of laboratories throughout the United States and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The values and operating philosophies of the organization are: medical leadership, personalized services to physicians, and a commitment to the highest quality of laboratory testing.

As an independent, service-driven organization we focus on providing the highest level of services to the physician community in coordination with our affiliated pathologists.  CPL has adopted a pathology-based approach  which allows us to provide a seamless solution of offering physicians access to the highest levels of anatomic pathology services and clinical testing at our main laboratory. Thus, CPL is better positioned to offer physicians the cost efficiencies available through a large commercial laboratory while supporting the continuum of care provided by local pathology.

The clinical testing operation offers a broad in-house test menu with the majority of testing performed at night Monday through Saturday. Routine clinical testing results are available overnight. Additional testing is completed during the day and testing not performed on site is performed at our internal CPL reference facility. All testing at CPL is facilitated by a wholly interfaced Laboratory Information System (LIS) with completely automated platforms for testing and result reporting. This information technology enhancement allows for expedited testing and substantially improved quality and affords us the opportunity to work with our clients to develop and implement the best laboratory solutions.

Licensure and Accreditation

CPL participates in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Laboratory Accreditation Program and has CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) certification through CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). CPL also holds current licensure and/or permits with various state and local regulators.
